About
I am Dr. Johanna Davies. I founded this project as an inquiry into how we can feel safe, gentle, and open within ourselves and around others, in a world that is loud and evolving ever so rapidly.
How do we move on from reactive patterns passed down through generations, so we can respond to life as it is, with all its challenges and mysteries? How do we feel light and grounded and capable to act in line with who we want to be, even when exhausted or triggered? I believe, wisdom lies in learning through the body (rather than cognitive insight alone). The ancient practice of centering is a good way to begin.
None of this is dogmatic, and I am not promising answers or offering quick fixes. I like things that are practical, and doable in day to day life - regardless of our level of energy, porosity of our nervous system or physical abilities. This is how I create these resources, as I continue to travel my own path of figuring things out.
My background is in critical care medicine. This has deeply shaped me as a human being - along with a life long search of how to face my fears. Studying and practicing aikido has opened an entire new world of wonder and sense of home to me, and is one of many influences on this work and my coaching practice. With gratitude to my teachers, I continue to be amazed by what this project is becoming.
